History

The growing tendency amongst Iranian anesthesiologists towards regional   anesthesia and pain medicine in recent years prompted the idea of setting up an   Iranian Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ISRAPM).

The Board of   Founders, with Dr Farnad Imani as the representative, lodged an appeal with the Iran Ministry of Health and Medical Education Commission on Accreditation of Scientific Societies in July 2005. The permission for the establishment of Iranian Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ISRAPM) was issued in November 2006.

In the first session of the society, which was held on 4th July 2007, in Rasoul-Akram hospital, Iran University of Medical Sciences, the Articles of Constitution of ISRAPM was presented and ratified by the attending anesthesiologists from various centers. The Board of Directors was elected under supervision of the Ministry of Health representative in the same session.
